Number 38
Swim – 33.29
Bike – 1.40.32
Run – 54.47
Triathlon 38/52 done and it was oddly enjoyable - I haven’t said that in a while.
Started silly early this morning, I was in the sea by 5.35 and it was proper dark. I have to say that when you’re swimming around the pier on your own in the dark you really do have to calm your mind to stop it going all sharks, eels & ghosts on you 🤣
After the swim it was onto the bike and my usual 40k return ride to Worthing and back. Then into trainers and a run to Shoreham port and back. All sports at a decent pace, the weather was nice and it wasn’t actually a bad start to the day.
This is one of two this week as I’ve also got the Brighton & Hove Triathlon this Sunday. That will give me a spare in the bank, which is always comforting.
Just 14 more to go 👍
Watch Rob Starr talk to BBC News about his 52x52 Challenge on the day he finished his 52nd and final Triathlon of the year!
A short blog to end; Triathlon 52/52 done. So pleased it’s over. Lots of money raised for the Starr Trust and I really hope it continues as there are so many young people who need our help.
That was one of the hardest yet both physically and mentally. Physically because my back is still in muscle spasm, caused by a Crohn's flare up that needed rest but didn’t get it. Mentally because the whole triathlon was done gym based, which meant no sea, no air, no trees, no birds - just a clock telling me I’ve hardly started!
