Triathlon 51 - 52x52 Challenge

Friday 25/11/22

Number 51

Swim – 42.54

Bike  - 1.31.25

Run – 42.08

Triathlon 51/52 (blimey so close now)

That was one of the hardest yet both physically and mentally. Physically because my back is still in muscle spasm, caused by a Crohn's flare up that needed rest but didn’t get it. Mentally because the whole triathlon was done gym based, which meant no sea, no air, no trees, no birds - just a clock telling me I’ve hardly started!

But this one had to be a just slog it out one, get it done and tick it off. Which I’ve done.

Now 5 days until the FINAL ONE. 5 days to rest my body enough to clear the back from hurting and 5 days to give the Crohn's time to settle. I’ll do this with a (hopefully) gentle sea swim in the mornings, deep breathing, smiling like a crazy man, little stress and sensible nutrition.

Looking ahead the weather for next Wednesday shows no wind and no rain! Also a mid tide first thing. So if the weather holds and my back behaves then the last one can be 100% outside again. Please send those good thoughts to the weather & health gods to play along just one last time.

A quick shoutout to my coach Ross Thornton and my spiritual partner Marlene Woolgar for getting me through this week.

I will finish this challenge strong. No pain, with a smile, and strong. I got this!

Oh yes, and please sponsor me 🙏🤣
