Announcing Our New Community Projects Award

We are pleased to announce, that in line with the new Community feel that is sweeping the world, we are going to branch out and offer financial help for Community Projects commencing in Spring 2021. We will retain our core scholarship funds of Sport Starrs, Art Starrs and Education Starrs, but will now also have a Starr Community Projects fund. Furthermore, whilst the scholarships remain localised to Greater Brighton, the new project fund will be for projects in the UK or around the world.Starr Community Projects will be for the benefit of groups and communities of young people aged 10-18, who aspire to achieve more in their lives through their potential in Sport, Art or Education. An outline of our new Community Projects Award funding provision will be as follows:

  • Financial grants of up to £10,000 to support community-based projects that champion young people to be the best that they can be in Sport, Art or Education
  • Applications for an award must come from a registered organisation where the project is for the benefit of young people in their local community
  • Beneficiaries of the project must be from a low income background
  • We will not provide any financial award for running costs of an organisation
  • Funding will be only be considered where the Starr Trust is being asked for a minimum of 50% of the funding costs up to 100%

The Starr Trust as a whole are very much looking forward to increasing our reach beyond Greater Brighton for projects that fit our core values and fulfil our commitment to benefiting even more young people than ever before!
