Triathlon 3 – 52x52 Challenge

Friday 14/01/22

Number Three

6.45am

Swim -27.14

Bike - 1.21.08

Run - 58.48

Number 3 came around very quickly. Oddly enough I found myself mid week looking forward to today, don’t know why, maybe it’s just my weird brain that likes to push myself, who knows. But that mind set made it much easier mentally this morning. Physically was ok as well, although this week I had a sports massage to iron out some issues I’ve had since the last two I’ve done and that left me with very deep bruises in my chest. Also on Wednesday I did a tough strength weights set in the gym as I need to build up some muscle to get through this challenge and of course that meant my shoulders and arms were really achy - so much so that it was a huge effort to get my running top on and off 🙄

But all in all, whilst I am now facing a day of work meetings with tiredness already setting in, I think it was a good Triathlon and I am pleased that I am now out of the 50’s and into the 40’s (sounds like I’m getting younger!)

This made me laugh when I went to the gym this morning. My wife Sharon has stencilled this onto the mirror. I wasn’t sure if it was to motivate me or to remind me what to do and in what order!

Triathlon 51 - 52x52 Challenge

Posted Nov 28, 2022

That was one of the hardest yet both physically and mentally. Physically because my back is still in muscle spasm, caused by a Crohn's flare up that needed rest but didn’t get it. Mentally because the whole triathlon was done gym based, which meant no sea, no air, no trees, no birds - just a clock telling me I’ve hardly started!
